Linux on ChromeOS
Running the app's Linux version in the Chromebook's built-in Linux development environment.
Many Chromebooks can turn on a Debian Linux environment from Settings, then install Linux apps with APT or from the vendor's Linux download. Google says hardware acceleration, including the GPU and video decode, is not yet supported there, which rules out GPU-heavy apps for now.
- Turn it on in Settings > About ChromeOS > Developers > Linux development environment.
- Google: hardware acceleration isn't yet supported, including GPU and video decode.
- Work or school Chromebooks might not allow Linux.
